A group of researchers have pooled their knowledge in a Tip Sheet on the options for transcribing, captioning, or subtitling your online video meetings. You can download Tip Sheet: Captioning, subtitling, and transcription for online meetings and event from Zenodo.

Produced by CSCCE the resource is a clear guide if you want to make better use of your online video events and meeting, and make your work ‘accessible by default’.

The guide explains the types of texts that can be made from a video: captions, close captions, subtitles, and transcriptions. Then, step-by-step, it takes you through how to generate each text type and how they are made on different platforms like Zoom or MS Teams, etc.

Included is a decision tree to help you choose which type of text resource will suit your requirements and the platforms to use.

You can find other tools CSCCE have tried out here on their blog.
